Creepy Summer Feelings

by Carlos Vasquez
Summer, a time of pleasant times. Nothing ever goes wrong, right? If you think that the summer is safe, then go home, because the summer always gives you the feeling that you're being watched. Why do people have that sensation? How does it occur? What does it mean? Where can it occur? And finally who or what is watching?

This feeling can occur anytime of the day. The fact is you're just being paranoid. But don't put yourself down. This feeling can be vindicated by new surveillance technology. This new technology can cause you to freak out when this feeling is bad . Yes, this fear can eat you alive.

The feeling being watched can really cause you to freak out in the country. Sometimes in your own home that feeling can cause you to go hysterical. In one my older stories, the story about haunted areas of New Mexico, there was a private home in Albuquerque where people felt like something was watching them. There might be some paranormal activity. These spirits may want to see what owners are doing. So what is this feeling of being watched anyway? The answer is your own fear. Remember that nothing is there if you're by yourself. If something is there, than show that you're not afraid.

Teen Life Around The World

By:Melanie Camacho
Edited By: Austin Muncrief

In Germany teens have more freedom. Parents in Germany allow teens to make their own decisions. Teens are seeen as adults rather than teenagers.

In the Caribeean, teens face a dificult path growing up. They have to face violence, poverty and immigration. This is normal for Latin American countries. Families have to work and attend school. The opportunity for higher education and good jobs are limited. Teens who are weathier enjoy shelter and private school. Family is important no matter how much money you have. These teens share parties, music and fashion.

Teen life in the Middle East is marked by extremes. Crises that are ongoing are poverty, earthquakes, war, cultural repression and political instability.Teenagers endure a difficult, or nearly impossible path into adulthood.

In China, teenager's attitudes are oriented toward life and study. Most pupils are eager to freely voice their opinions. Yongsters are interested in Hollywood movies. Teens born since 1980s are known as little emperors.

By: Manny Madrid

Do you get bad grades when you take a test? You have all those answers in your head. It's because your nervous and off track. When your parents interact with you and read together and treat you with love makes you do better.

Look over at your test scores from the last time. Try to get earlier to your test class to study if you want good test scores. You should keep a nice calm attitude in order to concentrate. Try to be as confident as you can when taking a test and have everything off your mind to do good. This will help you stay alert and calm.

Each time you take a test try to do better and set a goal to meet. Studying will bring the answers back to your head faster. Keep trying untill you get good grades. Teachers will be there for you.

Steelers Offense

by Gino Lamberti

Thoughout the years of the history of the NFL, one of the biggest scoring teams was the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers were founded on July 8, 1933 by Arthur Joseph Rooney. These big bad Steelers had five Superbowls before 2000. They won 4 of 5 Superbowls. One of the main parts of this football team is their offence.

The Pittsburgh Steelers offence was amazing throughout the years. Terry Bradshaw was a quarterback with 3,724 yards and 26 touchdowns. This quarterback was great and led the Pittsburgh Steelers to a win in the Superbowl against the St. Louis Rams with the final score of 31-19. Although this is all the past...

How about them Steelers?! Ben Roethlisberger is the starting quarterback for the present day Pittsburgh Steelers. This rookie quarterback at the 2006 season led the Pittsburgh Steelers to a Superbowl and won over the Seattle Seahawks 21-10 as they won their 5th Superbowl of all times. Big Ben leads the Steelers with their longest passes and accuracy and quickness and also as a high scoring quarterback. Throughout the years Big Ben has been with the Steelers, they have scored many touchdowns and just about made it into the playoffs every year.

The running game hasn't been too good for the Steelers as Willie Parker (starter running back) has been hurt. Rashard Mendenhall (2nd string running back) is also hurt. Carey Davis (fullback) is ALSO HURT! However, starting running back Mewelde Moore (#21) is getting first downs and not planning to give up on his team. Also, Najeh Davenport has more touchdowns than Willie Parker last year and this big running #44 gets back the line and gains yards. The Pittsburgh Steelers are not that good at running this year but these running backs are planning to play their season strong and score touchdowns.

Hines Ward! Known as one of the best blocking wide receivers he also scores many touchdowns. This #86 gets in his route and finds the ball in his hand and in the end zone. He knows what his job is and he's very good at it. Number 10, Santonio Holmes is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL and can't drop the ball. This wide receiver finds his route, catches the ball, and breaks every tackle and gets in the end zone. These two Pittsburgh Steeler wide receivers don't give up and put points on the scoreboard.

Finally, you can't forget about your O line. Marvel Smith, Alan Faneca, Jeff Hartings, Kendall Simmons, and Max Starks are some of the main reasons Steelers can get the ball out to an open receiver. This big bad offensive line knows how to block and most of the time do it well. But to the left or right of these players is Heath Miller! The #83 tight end gets good catches and also can't seem to drop the ball. This big guy knows how to run people over and get good yardage for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also knows how to get into the end zone when he has to.

So this is the Pittsburgh Steelers offense and this is how they are going to keep playing. This big bad Steelers offense can get past any defense if they want to. So to all you Pittsburgh Steelers fans...HOW ABOUT THEM STEELERS!

Happy Halloween!

by Analisa Benitiz

Need some ideas for what to do this Halloween? Well, NMSU is going to have a Halloween show at the Pan Am Center. You will need to bring $5 per person. They will hand out door prizes. Doors will open at 9 PM on October 27th. They will also have a pumpkin carving contest.

The Las Cruces Police Department will be handing out candy so if you see an officer, go ahead and ask for candy! Local malls and recreation centers like Club Fusion usually have Halloween carnivals as well. These are great places to hang out on this spooky night!

If you are going trick-or-treating, please take a few of these tips from Officer Hernandez:
  • Never go into a stranger's house
  • Always have a cell phone handy
  • Don't take open candy
  • Bring a light
  • Don't go out after midnight (there's a curfew!)
  • Go with a large group
  • Don't talk to anyone you don't know
  • Only go to houses that are well lit up
  • Wear comfortable shoes
  • Bring an adult to supervise
  • Wear reflective clothing
  • Wear light colored clothing so cars can see you
  • Wear masks that don't mess with vision

Have fun and stay safe!
