Need some ideas for what to do this Halloween? Well, NMSU is going to have a Halloween show at the Pan Am Center. You will need to bring $5 per person. They will hand out door prizes. Doors will open at 9 PM on October 27th. They will also have a pumpkin carving contest.
The Las Cruces Police Department will be handing out candy so if you see an officer, go ahead and ask for candy! Local malls and recreation centers like Club Fusion usually have Halloween carnivals as well. These are great places to hang out on this spooky night!
If you are going trick-or-treating, please take a few of these tips from Officer Hernandez:
- Never go into a stranger's house
- Always have a cell phone handy
- Don't take open candy
- Bring a light
- Don't go out after midnight (there's a curfew!)
- Go with a large group
- Don't talk to anyone you don't know
- Only go to houses that are well lit up
- Wear comfortable shoes
- Bring an adult to supervise
- Wear reflective clothing
- Wear light colored clothing so cars can see you
- Wear masks that don't mess with vision
